To have an outstanding experience in London, you must visit the borough of Kensington. On the other hand, if you’ve managed to prolong your stay by a few days, you’re in for a treat. The city centre has a plethora of things to see and do, many of which you’ll be surprised to learn about for the first time.
Some landmarks don’t require any introduction. A city centre tour might be overwhelming as you collect photographs that you’ve seen on television or the internet a thousand times.
For example, the Tower of London (a mysterious location); the Houses of Parliament (where decisions are made and where Big Ben is usually found); the London Eye (a Ferris wheel with a breathtaking 360-degree view); Buckingham Palace (the famous royal residence); Westminster Abbey (the site of royal coronations, royal weddings, and other royal ceremonies); or St Paul’s Cathedral (a masterpiece designed by Sir Christopher Wren). Covent Garden
This pedestrian-only square in the heart of London’s West End is the ideal location to take in the energy of the English metropolis on a warm summer day. Covent Garden is one of the most beautiful spots in the city, thanks to the street entertainers who entertain the masses and the restaurants that flow out onto the area.
A diverse range of restaurants can be found in Covent Garden, including well-known chains, sophisticated diners, and spots where tourists are served microwave meals. Whichever option you choose, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
The Shard
The Shard, which stands more than 300 metres tall and has an all-glass facade, can be viewed from almost anywhere in London. When you gaze down from the top of the building, the structure’s height is even more impressive.
It is possible to take benefit of your visit even if you are not staying at Shangri-La, the hotel that occupies floors 34 to 52. At the Gong, located on the latter floor, you may take advantage of your visit to enjoy panoramic views of the English city while sipping a nice cup of coffee.
London by night
What you do in the evening will often be determined by how your day has gone, how much energy you have left, and who is with you. Another thing to note about London is that it can accommodate practically every choice, whether it’s a quiet drink to celebrate achievement, some live music to unwind, or a martini and dance to burn off some energy.
If you’re around Sloane Square, check out Tonteria or Eclipse, which are both fashionable spots to be seen. If you’re looking for something a little lighter, stop by the 606 Club for a tasty cocktail while listening to jazz as the music to your evening.
Make a reservation for a night at the Royal Albert Hall if you want to experience the best in live music. Orchestras, classic rock ballads, jazz sessions, and even Cirque du Soleil have all performed in this historic venue, a fixture in the city for almost a century.
